A 51-year-old woman comes to the GP because of pain in her left great toe. Vitals are within normal limits. She has a 5-year history of type II diabetes mellitus managed with glipizide. She reports various drug allergies. Surgical history is remarkable for appendectomy 2 years ago, hysterectomy 7 years ago for symptomatic uterine fibroids, nasal surgery 9 years ago for stridor, and ACL repair 17 years ago.
